MADE
FROM
LABELS

made from labels

An upcycled fashion label for people who've never fit inside one category. Every piece is annotated, not finished. Every label tells you something: where the fabric came from, or who decided you were "too much."

Shop by who you are, not who you're told to be

Three ways people show up

The Collector

Shop the Collector

For the ones whose wardrobe is a timeline of every phase they've been through. Nothing gets thrown out here. It gets worn into the next chapter.

The Reclaimer

Shop the Reclaimer

For the ones who take a label someone else handed them and cut it into something of their own. The seams stay visible on purpose.

The Archivist

Shop the Archivist

For the ones who can tell you exactly where a piece came from, down to the year. Meaning first, trend a distant second.

Brand platform

Made from labels

Clothing label

Tells you where a garment came from.

Personal label

Tells you who other people decided you are.

Too loud. Too weird. Too feminine. Too masculine. Too much.

Marginalia turns the labels people used to box you in into raw material instead. The things that once defined you become the things you build from. Stitching stays visible, tags become design, and repairs turn into decoration on purpose.

Alta Costura · Alterior

Too much
was always
the point.

the other side of the label

High fashion has always trafficked in excess: drama, artifice, spectacle. It just rarely let the people who built that language stand at the front of the room. Alterior is Marginalia's atelier line, couture cut for the ones who were "too much" for the guest list, made by them instead.

Positioning

The room wasn't built for you. So build another one.

Luxury fashion has spent a century borrowing its drama from ballroom, drag, queer club culture, and immigrant tailoring traditions, then closing the door behind it. Alterior doesn't ask for a seat at that table. It's a second table, set for the people the first one was styled on but never staffed by: queer designers, first-generation stylists, the "too much" crowd who got called avant-garde only once someone else wore it.

Every collection credits where its language came from. Nothing here is borrowed quietly.

The collection

Runway, not rack

Three postures

The Excess

Volume as argument. If restraint was never offered to you, why perform it now.

The Armor

Structure worn like protection, because for a lot of the people this house dresses, getting dressed has always been a small act of defence.

The Reveal

Construction left visible, the same instinct as Marginalia's exposed stitching, taken to its most theatrical register.

Inside the atelier

Turn the label over

A woven label has two sides. The front tells you the brand. The back tells you what it's actually made of, who made it, and how to keep it alive. Fashion houses show you the front constantly and the back almost never.

Alterior publishes both. Every look ships with its own construction notes: who cut it, what it was built from, what to do when a seam gives out. Provenance the way Marginalia's Archivist customer already demands it, just dressed up.
